The United Soccer League (USL) recently announced Swan City SC as the newest member for the USL Academy League’s Florida Division. The Academy League will provide clubs in all three of the USL's senior divisions with an elite youth development and competition platform. The structure of the USL Academy League provides USL clubs a progressive model to develop local players for their Senior Team, at a lessened cost of traditional pre-professional academies. This Academy will enable far more clubs and communities to participate, allowing for the regional division format which limits travel demand to teams and families.
The USL Academy is for both male and female athletes.
Swan City SC will join the following clubs in competition within the Florida Division of the USL Academy League (2022 Footprint)
- FC Florida
- FC Miami City / PSG Academy
- Miami AC
- Miami FC
- Tampa Bay United
- Weston FC
USL Academy Cup
The USL Academy Cup is an annual event that comprises 3 age groups, U13, U15, and U19 male and female teams. The event features 3 group-stage matches between clubs in the same age group and division, followed by a Championship/Final match or Placement match on the final day, depending on the club's standings. All matches provide meaningful competition against clubs outside of the regional area.
Championship/Final matches will award the winners a trophy, along with medals for both the winners and runners-up. Individual awards for Golden Glove, Golden Boot, Golden Ball, and Coach of the Tournament will be provided for each of the Gold divisions.
