RECREATION Overview

Our Interleague or "recreation" program offers an introductory, fun playing environment for players of all skill levels between the ages of 3-15 years old (2020-2010). Our program has two seasons - Fall and Spring. Teams practice once weekly at their chosen park and play one game on a Saturday over an eight week period. Each team is coached by a parent volunteer, who must pass a background check, complete safe sport training and concussion protocol certification. Each season concludes with a postseason tournament for the U8+ age groups, Games rotate between Lake Parker Park and Loyce Harpe Park (Carter Road).

Munchkins and Mini-Kickers

As part of the Inter-League Program, SCSC has a separate curriculum for the very youngest members, the “Munchkins” & "Mini-Kickers". Designed for our youngest soccer stars, the Munchkins & Mini-Kickers Programs are committed to introducing soccer to youngsters, while fostering excitement, love of the game, and age-appropriate exercise. Parental involvement is integral to children’s success in the Munchkins & Mini-Kickers Programs! Players and parents alike are encouraged to learn and practice the skills of kicking and dribbling the soccer ball. Munchkin Birth Years 2020 & 2021 (U4 & U5) Mini Kicker Birth Year 2019 (U6)

U8-U15 Program

These age groups are separated into age and gender specific teams. Our programs are available for girls and boys in these age groups. These age groups have one weekday (M-F) evening practice/ games are typically played on Saturday. These age groups play in end of year tournaments which may require a Sunday or weeknight game.

Our U8-U15 age groups do participate in several tournaments throughout the Fall and Spring seasons.

  • Judges Cup: A tournament for the U10-U15 age group played across Polk County. This event happens at the end of the Fall season.
  • Champions Cup: A tournament for our U8s played every Fall.
  • All Stars: All Stars, for ages U10 and above, is an advanced tournament that takes the very top players of each age group and forms teams to participate in the county-wide All Stars Tournament. All-Stars is held over several days in January (Thursday - Sunday) at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. Teams come from Auburndale, Bartow, Lakeland, Lake Wales, and Winter Haven.
  • Ernie Head Invitational: A Swan City end-of season tournament, held in the Spring, and honoring long-time recreation coach and contributor, Ernie Head.
